I want to know Christ

Grace and peace to you all.

There’s a moment when you decide you’re all in. You simply commit, or recommit. You say to yourself “no matter what comes, this is what I want” and you go for it. That’s what I’ve done in my relationship with Christ.

Within the last few years, my commitment to Christ has solidified itself in my soul. I don’t want to be lukewarm, I don’t want to waiver- I want unshakeable faith, to walk-the-walk and talk-the-talk. Through trial or storm, I have decided: I want to know Christ.

I’ve always had the desire to worship God and love His people- it’s just who He’s made me to be. But (in all honesty) reading the bible never really interest me. In the Spring of 2019, that all changed. The Lord said to me, “I see your love for me and your desire to live the life I’ve called you to– but how can you know me without knowing my word?”

This resonated in me and so, I made a change. Slowly but surely, I started reading His word more. It wasn’t every day, it wasn’t even a lot. But I had decided to start reading more of the bible so I could know Him better.

When the New Year came, I decided that I aimed to read the bible everyday. It wasn’t a new years resolution, but a goal. I wanted to try. I wanted to create the discipline of being in the word every day to eventually make it a habit.

As of today, I’ve read the bible for 100 days in a row. For many, this might not be a big milestone, but for me it’s huge.

100 days of bible

I am starting to know him better. I hear his voice clearer. And you can do the same.

When you decide that you want to know Christ, it doesn’t have to be difficult or everything at once. You can start small. Read your bible for 5 minutes every morning. Have a 10 minute conversation with God every night before you go to bed. Start exercising your faith when prompted, even if it seems insignificant. And it doesn’t have to be perfect. All you have to do commit and say: I want to know Christ… then start and try.

While continuing to read my bible everyday, my new goal is to start memorizing scripture. I struggle with long term memorization as well as citing where the scripture came from, but I’m going to work on it. I want the word of God to be the foundation of my faith.

Psalm 119:11

“Your word I have treasured in my heart, That I may not sin against You.”

Be encouraged friends. All you have to do is say yes and try. There is grace for you, there is forgiveness. But start today, even if it’s small. Start now. Go forth and declare: I want to know Christ.

God bless ✞
