Friends, I’ve got some questions for you:
How often does God speak to you? Are you in tune to the voice of God? Everyone hears the voice of God differently, but how do you respond when you’re spoken to?
These past few weeks, I’ve been struggling a lot with depression, anxiety and suicidal thoughts, but God has been speaking to me clearly in the mist of my darkness and in turn showing me how valued and needed I am.
As a lot of you know, I was in a wedding on the 17th. The venue was beautiful, the couple was happy, and the Holy Spirit was present; It was a perfect day. On that day, I spoke with lots of friends and danced the night away.
Two friends that I had spent time with that day are people I care about deeply and always keep in my prayers. The next day, God told me, “I have messages for those two friends” and he dove right in.
Luke 11:28
He replied, “Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it.”
For the first friend, God really wanted me to tell him that God had his life planned out (and that he didn’t have to be worried), as well as the fact that his identity is found in the Lord and not the labels our world tries to apply to him. This friend was very receptive and thankful that I was willing to share what the Lord asked me to.
As for the second friend, I had some anxiety about sharing with him. It was honestly probably the enemy trying to prevent me from telling this friend exactly what he needed to hear. But I wanted to be obedient to God, and so I messaged him. God wanted to tell him how important and valued he is- how well loved he is.
Now I’m not using this post to humble brag about how often Yaweh speaks to me, but to encourage you to look at your own life and ask yourself: “Is God speaking to me?” “Am I willing to speak what the Lord has spoken to me?” “When I ask God to use me, do I really mean it?”
Through everything I’ve been going through, God used these times to show me that I am needed and loved and that I have a purpose. That because I’m alive and obedient to him, I was able to give two people messages from the Lord that they needed to hear. By following his prompting, I’m loving these people better and being a good servant.
2 John 1:6
And this is love:that we walk in obedience to his command. As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love.
Friends, God is not done speaking. He didn’t just go away after Revelations was written, but he is here and he wants to speak to you. Will you listen to his voice, and then speak when spoken to?
