Valentine Pending

Friends, I’m so sorry I haven’t been writing. I’ve been going through a lot, but through it all God has still been faithful, still providing, still loving and wonderful as ever.

Speaking of which…

Valentine’s Day is on Sunday and we all know it. We’ve seen the stores transform entire sections into red and pink, candy-filled reminders of what love should look like. But is that really what love is?

I just really wanted to remind all of you that whether you’re single or married, you have a Valentine pending- and he’s waiting to give you the best kind of love you could ever experience. That’s not to say that the love your husband gives you isn’t great- of course it is! But the love of the Father is the most satisfying and amazing thing you could ever experience. God’s love for us is exactly what we should model ourselves after- how we love one another.

1 Corinthians 13: 4-8

” Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails…”

I read something once that said if you fall in love with someone, you should be able to replace their name with the word love, and it should fit every sentence. But what about you? How do you fit? Are you patient? Kind? Do you rejoice in the truth? Now, I’m not saying you need to be perfect, but this is a great template on how to see how you might need to improve. But while you’re improving, god still loves you, right where you are.

Not only does God love and care for us, but he has plans for us:

Jeremiah 29:11

For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

WHAT? He loves me and he has plans for my life? He cares about my story? What a guy…

So instead of spending my Valentines upset that I’m not in a relationship, I’m going to spend time with the one who truly loves me. Falling in love with God more and more is something I have never regretted. Like it says in verse eight in 1 Corinthians, his love never fails! So if you haven’t already, open up your heart to the person who gave his only son because he loves you. Get to know your wonderful God this Valentines Day, and then go out and love up one another. ✞

John 13:34-35

” A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another: just as I have loved you, you also are to love one another.  By this all people will know that you are my disciples, if you have love for one another.”
